Technology Hub located in Barcelona, is one of the service units of MediaMarktSaturn Technology to deliver adequate staffing and engineering skills for the agreed deliveries of the global deployment plan for the entire group.

Your Tasks

We are looking for you as a Senior Backend Developer for Order Management at Media Markt Saturn Technology. We guarantee customers delivery of their goods - no matter which sales touchpoint, no matter which delivery method - efficiently and cost-sensitively - our delivery promise. With a wide range of technologies, from off-the-shelf software to a suite of microservices developed with modern cloud technologies, we are constantly working to master our omnichannel journey. In doing so, we are guided by DevOps principles and a domain-driven design. We are looking for you to become part of our journey and grow together with MediaMarktSaturn as a Backend / Cloud Engineer.

Tasks:

• You will implement valuable functionality aligned with the product strategy and bring your technical expertise to develop the best possible solution - guided by clean code principles
• You'll work with us to develop our order management and supply chain strategy by implementing components such as intelligent delivery promise, order fulfillment, and sourcing algorithms
• With your team, you make architectural decisions to ensure high levels of service performance, robustness, and maintainability
• You take ownership of the team's services, maintaining and running them on our cloud infrastructure, bringing DevOps to life
• You coach your teammates on software engineering, contributing to the growth of the entire team

Your Profile

Required studies and competences:

• You have a degree in computer science or a related field and/or several years of work experience as a Software Engineer
• You have built and operated an application at scale in production in the past, preferably in the area of e-commerce
• You have a profound knowledge and practical expertise with object-oriented programming languages, preferably Java or Kotlin, as well as web frameworks like Spring or Quarkus
• You have hands-on experience using NoSQL (MongoDB) and SQL (PostgreSQL) databases.
• You feel comfortable operating a mission critical service under high traffic in a cloud environment using Kubernetes and know how to monitor it using tools such as Grafana and Prometheus; experience with GCP is beneficial
• You know deeply how to design APIs and how to integrate microservices via REST in a fault-tolerant way and how to decouple them using an event-driven approach, e.g., Kafka
• You are familiar with common design patterns, domain-driven design as well as different testing strategies, in general, you have a high level of quality awareness
• Most important: You are motivated to learn, grow, share experience and love working in a team
